Sweeping Utah Chimneys Since 1983

Chimney work is my full-time profession — not a weekend side job. School trained, school certified, and still climbing Utah roofs after forty-plus years.

Meet Jim Gueck

I started A Touch of Class in 1983. Forty-plus years later, this is still what I do — full time, every week of the year, not on weekends around another job.

That matters more than it sounds. A chimney is a fire containment system. Reading one correctly takes repetition: thousands of flues, hundreds of different appliances, and the kind of pattern recognition you only get from doing this as your actual profession.

I'm school trained and school certified. That meant classroom instruction, hands-on work under instructors, and a proctored exam — Black Magic, 1982 and Insulcrete, 1983.. It's a different thing from an online certificate.

When you call, you get me. Same person who's been on Utah roofs since 1983.

Credentials

  • In business since 1983 — same owner, same name, same phone number

  • Full-time chimney professional, not a part-time or seasonal operator

  • School trained and school certified: in-person instruction, hands-on practical work, proctored exam

  • Fully insured — certificate available on request

  • Background checked

  • Ongoing continuing education in current safety standards and code

Questions to Ask Any Chimney Sweep Before You Hire

Chimney sweeping is a lightly regulated trade, and search results tend to look identical. Five questions will tell you most of what you need to know about whoever you're calling — including me.

Ask me all five. I'll answer them on the phone before you book anything.

Comprehensive Commercial & Residential Services

Your Questions, Answered

How often should I have my chimney cleaned?

The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual inspection and cleaning for regularly used fireplaces and all wood burning appliances. Our 40+ years of experience confirms this schedule prevents most chimney problems.

Do you really guarantee no mess?

Absolutely. We protect your home with drop cloths, use professional vacuum equipment, and, of course, no mess guarantee.

Can you work with my insurance company?

Yes, as chimney relining specialists, we regularly coordinate with insurance companies for chimney fire damage restoration and preventive relining projects.

What makes you different from other chimney services?

Three things, all of them checkable.

I've operated under this name since 1983. This is my full-time profession, not something I fit around another job. And my training was in-person and school-certified rather than online.

Ask me about any of the three when you call.

Do you actually do the work yourself?

Yes. You get me on the phone and you get me at your house.

How far do you travel?

All of Utah, and into surrounding states for relining and repair work. Call and ask — if it's a drive, I'll tell you straight.

What Utah Homeowners Say

“Could not have asked for better service. He was professional, extremely helpful and informative, and it was obviously that he genuinely cares about your chimney and your family's experience with it. He was affordable, considerate, thorough and knowledgeable. What more could you want.”

— Amy

“Can't say enough about Jim and the great service this company provides. We had a few others come to give us quotes on work for our chimney which dates from the 70s. Then, a Touch of Class came over. That was it. Jim's knowledge was noticeable right away. He did two jobs for us placing caps and applying sealers. Both jobs look excellent. Customer service is great. He shows up on time. Dependable, responsible, and knowledgeable. Quality workmanship. Highly recommend.”

“I live in the mountains of Utah. My chimney is a vital part of our lives. I have had many different businesses clean, inspect and repair my chimney. I was only satisfied by one company. A Touch of Class is exactly what they say. Jim, the owner came himself. Talked me through the whole process and finally my chimney and all 4 fireplaces are working perfectly! It honestly doesn’t get any better than this!”
